Mijn opa Bram Jansma uit Amsterdam was een overtuigd en actieve Communist . Hij weigerde dienst toen het er op leek dat hij uitgezonden zou worden naar Indië. Hij was faliekant tegen het imperialistische kolonialisme van de Nederlandse overheid.
Dat kwam hem te staan op gevangenis straf. Na zijn vrijlating heeft de buurt waar hij en zijn gezin woonde hem met een fanfare binnengehaald. Ook hadden ze geld ingezameld om hem een baantje te bezorgen als verkoper van aanmaakhout. Die hele Amsterdamse buurt was zo rood als wat😂
